The Challenge: Rebranding Without A Reboot

The client faced a high-stakes visibility challenge after its U.S. predecessor brand was acquired by a European-headquartered global executive search firm.

The predecessor brand had already built strong organic search authority in a specialized niche: recruiting senior executives for European companies operating in the United States. Once the acquisition happened, the risk was clear. A poorly managed transition could weaken rankings, break continuity, and erode years of accumulated SEO equity.

The challenge extended beyond redirects or page updates. The rebrand required aligning a U.S. market presence with a European-headquartered global firm, working across time zones with the team in Europe, fitting into a global website architecture, and helping Google recognize the new U.S. brand as the legitimate successor to the predecessor business.

At the same time, the brand needed to keep building visibility, not just preserve what already existed.

Autumn’s Approach

Autumn managed the work in phases, combining long-term authority building, technical migration support, and ongoing thought leadership publishing.

Phase 1: Laying the Foundation

Before the acquisition, Autumn spent several years building the predecessor brand’s search presence through:

  • Monthly optimized blog content targeting executive search keywords in the U.S. market
  • Ongoing website updates and technical SEO improvements
  • Consistent publication designed to build authority around a clear niche

That work created the infrastructure that made the later migration worth protecting.

Phase 2: Executing a High-Stakes Brand Migration

After the acquisition, Autumn led the digital transition from the predecessor brand to the new U.S. brand.

Working with members of the global leadership and marketing team, the team executed:

  • An SEO migration strategy built to preserve keyword rankings and domain authority
  • Redirect implementation from legacy pages to new U.S. brand pages
  • Launch of the U.S. country page, including office pages for major metropolitan cities
  • A comprehensive SEO audit of the global site
  • Technical SEO fixes based on audit findings
  • Brand touchpoint updates across high-traffic pages
  • Cross-linking between U.S., regional, and global content
  • Traffic monitoring until Google fully recognized the new U.S. brand as the successor to the predecessor business
  • Final consulting recommendations for the global team

The transition took a full year to complete.

Phase 3: Expanding Visibility Through Thought Leadership

Once the migration was complete, Autumn continued supporting the U.S. brand with an ongoing authority-building content strategy.

That work includes:

  • Two U.S.-focused thought leadership articles per month
  • Content built around the questions European companies ask when seeking executive search support in the U.S.
  • Quarterly cross-region content alignment calls with the global team
  • Strategic content themes including future-ready leadership, cross-cultural leadership, operational transformation, succession planning, and strategic hiring
  • Support for a global AI white paper based on 50+ CEO interviews
  • EIN Newswire distribution for high-impact articles

The Difference We Made

The U.S. business is now seeing the compounded benefits of this long-term strategy across traditional search and AI-driven discovery.

Ranking for High-Intent, Organic Searches

The U.S. business ranks in Google’s organic results for highly relevant, non-branded long-tail queries, including searches such as:

  • “Executive search firms in the U.S. recruiting for European subsidiaries in the U.S.”
  • “Best executive search firms for European companies expanding into the U.S.”
  • “Executive recruiters for manufacturing and industrial leadership roles for European subsidiaries in the U.S.”

Earning Visibility in Google’s AI Search

The firm also appears in Google’s AI Overviews for multiple target queries.

In addition, a new client lead was generated directly through a Gemini AI recommendation. The firm’s content is now being surfaced by AI assistants when prospective clients ask specific questions about executive search for European companies operating in the U.S.

Business Impact Beyond Rankings

The visibility gains created direct internal and commercial value:

  • A Search Visibility & AI Discovery Spotlight one-pager was created for the CEO
  • The Managing Partner requested that the results be shared with global leadership
  • AI-driven visibility is now contributing directly to business development

The Bigger Picture

These results that strong search visibility is built over time and protected through disciplined execution.

For the U.S. business, the outcome did not come from a single campaign or short-term tactic. It came from years of SEO authority building, a carefully managed brand transition, and a thought leadership strategy focused on the real questions prospective clients are asking.

It also shows that the same fundamentals that support traditional SEO — relevance, structure, authority, and consistency — now influence visibility in AI-driven search experiences as well.
