The Challenge: One Parent Nonprofit, Four Programs, No Cohesive Identity
The St. John Paul II Life Center (JPII Life Center) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Austin, Texas, serving women and families through four integrated programs, each with a distinct audience and purpose:
- Freedom Women’s Care (formerly Free Pregnancy Help TX): pregnancy care, family stability, client advocacy, rental and material assistance, and pre-abortion screening
- Vitae Clinic: a full-service obstetrics and gynecology practice offering restorative reproductive medicine
- DiscoverLifeMD: a national education platform featuring evidence-based, life-affirming curricula for middle and high school students
- A Glimpse Inside®: a groundbreaking video series helping students understand where life begins
Each program had its own audience (patients, clients, donors, volunteers, educators, administrators) and its own digital presence, but there was no cohesive brand strategy tying them together. The organization’s digital properties also started from different places and had different needs.
The challenge was to bring consistency to JPII Life Center’s digital presence while preserving each program’s distinct purpose. Women seeking support, patients exploring medical care, donors considering a gift, and educators evaluating resources each needed clear messaging and an intuitive path to the information relevant to them.
“Autumn took the time to understand the multifaceted mission of our organization. The St. John Paul II Life Center includes three distinct, yet integrated, programs: Freedom Women’s Care (pregnancy care and family stability), Vitae Clinic (a full-service obstetrics and gynecology practice), and DiscoverLifeMD (our new national education platform).
Built with the latest technology and metrics in mind each brand and site was designed to connect with our various audiences (patients, clients, donors, volunteers) and with each other.”

Phase 1: Brand Discovery and Identity Design for JPII Programs
Autumn began with a series of in-depth brand discovery sessions, one for each program under the JPII umbrella: DiscoverLifeMD, A Glimpse Inside®, Free Pregnancy Help TX (the program that would become Freedom Women’s Care), Vitae Clinic, and the JPII Life Center itself.
These discovery sessions focused on understanding audience segments, competitive positioning, messaging tone, and visual direction. The naming, logo, identity, and website work that followed was tailored to the needs and starting point of each brand.
The final brand guide included primary and secondary logo lockups, color variations for print and digital use, and audience-specific tagline frameworks, all designed to function across medical office placements, postcards, social media, signage, and web properties.
In parallel, Autumn developed new logos, brand guides, and visual identities for DiscoverLifeMD and the JPII Life Center parent brand. Autumn also developed the new Freedom Women’s Care name through collaborative brainstorming sessions with the JPII team. DiscoverLifeMD’s brand goal was specific: become the number one trusted resource for scientifically driven, medically accurate, life-affirming education nationwide.
Phase 2: Website Design and Development for a Nonprofit Digital Ecosystem
Autumn designed and developed four interconnected WordPress websites, with each project addressing a different starting point and audience need.
- DiscoverLifeMD was prioritized first because it had no previous website or online presence. Autumn developed its brand identity and created a completely new website to introduce its educational resources and help relevant audiences explore them. The site was designed to help schools, churches, homeschool groups, community organizations, and pregnancy resource centers discover and adopt DiscoverLifeMD’s evidence-based curricula. Post-launch analytics showed meaningful engagement, with the Body Literacy page averaging 1 minute, 19 seconds of engagement time and the Fertility Awareness page generating 4.17 views per active user.
- St. John Paul II Life Center had an existing website that was migrated to WordPress. The parent organization’s site was redesigned to clearly communicate the relationship between all programs under the JPII umbrella, support donor engagement, and strengthen the organization’s credibility as a unified nonprofit brand.
- Freedom Women’s Care (formerly Free Pregnancy Help Texas) was the most complex website project, built in two phases. The program underwent a complete rebrand and website migration to WordPress, with the new name developed through collaborative brainstorming sessions with the JPII team. The site was designed specifically around the questions, needs, and experiences of the women it serves, with separate audience journeys for women in crisis, women seeking ongoing support, and donors.
- A Glimpse Inside® previously had only an online course website. Autumn created the complete brand and a new public-facing website and user experience that introduces the educational offering and connects visitors to the course website. The course website was also updated to reflect the new branding.
“Autumn has brought both design excellence and strategic clarity. The branding and digital work was built to convert interest into engagement, whether that’s a woman seeking care, a donor considering a gift, or a couple exploring Restorative Reproductive Medicine. Having a consistent, professional identity across Freedom Women’s Care, the JPII Life Center, and DiscoverLifeMD websites has strengthened our credibility and made it easier to tell one coherent story across all three programs instead of three disconnected ones.”

A Strategic Partner, Not Just a Vendor
What began as a logo and website engagement has evolved into an ongoing strategic partnership spanning brand architecture, website development, digital advertising, content strategy, market intelligence, and privacy compliance across four interconnected web properties.
“Autumn approached our work as a mission partner, not just a vendor. This comes through in the intentionality of frequent communication with our team and the thoughtful design choices across every project we’ve worked on together.”
Linda Ruf, CEO, St. John Paul II Life Center
For JPII Life Center, the work isn’t simply about having a stronger brand or a better website. It’s about building a marketing system that can listen, learn, adapt, and ultimately help the organization connect with the people it exists to serve.
What the Partnership Looks Like in Practice
- Brand strategy and identity design for five interconnected nonprofit brands
- Four custom WordPress websites designed, developed, and hosted
- Bilingual digital experience in English and Spanish with manually reviewed translations
- 24/7 nurse chat integration driving 37% of website leads
- Hyper-local paid advertising with performance exceeding national benchmarks by more than 2x
- Monthly content development through collaborative staff interviews
- Privacy and compliance implementation across all digital properties

Through JPII Life Center’s national education work with DiscoverLifeMD, the insights generated through Freedom Women’s Care’s campaigns may help inform future work with other women’s health nonprofit organizations around the country. Instead of every organization starting from scratch, lessons gathered through real-world campaigns could help inform broader strategies around audience understanding, message development, digital engagement, website strategy, content, and campaign optimization.
JPII provides the platform and national perspective. Autumn provides the strategic marketing partnership and the framework for testing, learning, and applying those insights.
The goal is to turn individual campaign experience into knowledge that can ultimately help strengthen digital marketing across the broader women’s health nonprofit community.

Frequently Asked Questions: Nonprofit Branding, Website Strategy & Digital Visibility
How can a nonprofit with multiple programs create a consistent brand identity?
Why does brand continuity matter for nonprofit organizations?
Donors, clients, and partners interact with your organization across multiple touchpoints: your website, social media, print materials, events, and in-person visits. When the name, look, and messaging shift between those touchpoints, it erodes trust and creates confusion. As JPII Life Center’s CEO, Linda Ruf, described it: “Having a consistent, professional identity across Freedom Women’s Care, the JPII Life Center, and DiscoverLifeMD websites has strengthened our credibility and made it easier to tell one coherent story across all three programs instead of three disconnected ones.”
What is the best website platform for nonprofits looking to improve SEO and digital visibility?
WordPress remains the strongest option for nonprofits that want full control over SEO, page structure, content publishing, and third-party integrations. Autumn migrated JPII Life Center from Wix to a custom WordPress build on WP Engine, enabling structured service pages, bilingual content, blog publishing, schema markup, and integrations like 24/7 nurse chat, all of which contribute to search visibility and AI discoverability.
How can a nonprofit improve its visibility in AI search results and generative engine optimization (GEO)?
AI search engines surface content that is well-structured, factually specific, and contextually rich. Nonprofits can improve GEO performance by creating dedicated pages for each service or program (rather than burying everything on one page), publishing original educational content that answers the real questions your audience is searching for, using clear headings with semantic keywords, and including specific data points and outcomes. Autumn’s approach for Freedom Women’s Care included individual service pages for pregnancy testing, sonograms, rental assistance, pre-abortion screening, and more, each optimized for the specific terms women search when they need help.
How long does it take for a new nonprofit brand and website to show up in search results?
A newly launched brand and website typically requires three to six months to build meaningful search visibility. Freedom Women’s Care launched in late May 2026 and by July was already generating 49 website leads per month, though some visitors searching for specific topics had not yet found the organization in traditional or AI search results. Consistent content publishing, paid advertising, and ongoing SEO work accelerate the timeline. Building visibility is a compounding process, not an overnight event.
How can nonprofits measure whether their digital marketing is actually working?
Move beyond surface-level metrics like impressions and page views. Focus on indicators of meaningful engagement: appointment requests, chat sessions initiated, inquiries by service type, and how many first-time clients found you through the website. Autumn tracks a full engagement funnel for Freedom Women’s Care, from ad impressions and click-through rates to nurse chat sessions, appointment requests, ultrasound inquiries, and actual client outcomes like pregnancy tests and sonograms.
What role does bilingual content play in nonprofit digital strategy?
For organizations serving diverse communities, bilingual content is not optional: it’s a visibility and access issue. Freedom Women’s Care’s website and advertising campaigns run in both English and Spanish, with manually reviewed translations for medical accuracy. Spanish-language ad creative including “Hablamos Español” was among the strongest-performing messages in the campaign. Meeting people in their language removes a barrier between awareness and action.
How can a nonprofit turn its marketing campaigns into market intelligence?
Design campaigns as structured tests, not just awareness pushes. Define specific questions each campaign should answer: Which audiences are engaging? Which messages drive action? Which formats work in which languages? Then measure against those questions and feed the insights back into the next round of strategy. Autumn built this feedback loop for Freedom Women’s Care: Strategy → Messaging → Market Testing → Measurement → Learning → Refined Strategy. The result is a growing body of real-world data that informs decisions far beyond a single campaign.
What should a nonprofit look for in a marketing partner?
Look for a partner who asks strategic questions before producing deliverables. The right partner will want to understand your mission, audience segments, competitive landscape, and organizational structure before touching a logo file or wireframe. As Linda Ruf put it: “Autumn approached our work as a mission partner, not just a vendor. This comes through in the intentionality of frequent communication with our team and the thoughtful design choices across every project we’ve worked on together.”
Can the results from one nonprofit's campaigns help other organizations?
Yes. When campaigns are designed with learning as a core objective, the insights become transferable. Through JPII Life Center’s national education work, the audience insights, messaging frameworks, and engagement data gathered from Freedom Women’s Care’s campaigns have the potential to support other women’s health nonprofits. Instead of every organization starting from scratch, shared learnings can accelerate strategy development across the sector.
